Stressors in a variety of forms affect parental well-being and parenting practices. A child’s potential to be creative, productive, healthy, and caring depends upon their experiences in childhood, and if these experiences are threatening, chaotic, and traumatic, the child’s potential is diminished. This interactive workshop will explore the impact of family stress on children, discuss Adverse Childhood Experiences, distinguish stress from trauma, while presenting theories, definitions and strategies to build protective factors and increase the resilience of children.
